Southeastern Food Bank
Ocoee, FL, December 2016 - Southeastern Food Bank is so excited and humbled to receive two generous grants. One is from an anonymous donor who generously gave us a $10,000.00 . We also received a grant from the Walmart State Giving Fund in the amount of $25,000. The $10,000.00 will allow us to purchase a trailer for our mobile Seniors Food Program. This trailer will allow us to go into the areas where our Senior Citizens reside, but may not be able to come to us. The $25,000.00 will help with the fuel and the general support for this program.
Can you image what 12,204 pounds of food looks like? That is the amount of food donated from school food drives. Southeastern Food Bank is so grateful for the contributions of many elementary and middle schools throughout Orange County for setting up food drives. At one middle school their Jr BETA club even donated hundreds of dollars of gift cards. There are thousands of homeless students and thousands more whose family is on the cusp of becoming homeless throughout Central Florida. Your contribution makes a huge difference whether it is your time, your finances, your groceries or your prayers.
It all counts!! Remember, those we nourish today will flourish tomorrow!
I am thankful for the partners that have been distributing the food and the Gospel, leading to 815 more decisions and re-commitments to Christ. Heaven is rejoicing at those added to his kingdom. I am looking forward in the new year to help more people in 12 counties as well as Jamaica, Haiti, and the Philippines. I thank God for all the prayers, financial support, and volunteers that it takes to feed needy people through programs and distribution. I pray for God’s wisdom and direction as we make partnerships for the new year.
